đ» #30: Build a Task Tracker with React â
Build a task tracker with React from Traversy Media + creative projects for more project inspiration
Happy Friday, developer! đ
In this weekendâs project, weâre building a Task Tracker. This project will go through the fundamentals of React.js and explain some key concepts that will certainly be used in future projects. If youâre new to React be sure to start with this tutorial.
Letâs get started!
Tutorial of the week:
Length: 1.75 hours
Difficulty: Beginner
This weekendâs tutorial is by one of my favourite tutorial makers, Traversy Media. He consistently puts out fantastic content. If youâre getting into web development his channel is a gold mine of things to learn.
What youâll learn this weekend:
Setting up a React.js App with `create-react-app` đ
Managing state
Passing Props
JSON servers
3 creative projects of the week:
1. Pokémon or Big Data?
Built with React, Bootstrap, Live-ServerDo you know the difference between Horsea and Seahorse? What about Flink and Spoink?
Every day new technologies are created and need creative names to stand out, a maker named Pixelastic shows off how hilarious these tech names have become by comparing them to Pokémon.
Check it out!
FYI: Spoink is also a Pokémon and Flink is a batch and stream processing system. Very confusing, I know.
Check out the Github repository here.
2. The Deep Sea
Beautifully smooth visualization of whatâs lurking below by maker @nealagarwal. I donât recommend holding your breath while trying to scroll to the bottom, itâs a lot deeper than youâd expect!
3. Quiz App + React + GSAP
Built with React and GSAP (GSAP is a javascript animation library)Am animated 10-question quiz to really test your frontend knowledge! Made by @knyttneve
I got 7/10, the questions will really test your knowledge. Tweet me and tell me what you got!
Thatâs all folks!
I hope you enjoyed this weekendâs edition of Weekend Web Dev!
I hope these three projects give you inspiration for your next three.js project or portfolio. If you create anything please share it with me on Twitter or reply to this email!
Iâd love to see what youâre building.
Your fellow weekend developer,
