💻 #17 Build an Todoist clone with React.js ✅
Happy Friday, developer! 👋
I hope you had a great week! The reason to-do list apps are so popular for coding tutorials is because they are the simplest form of a CRUD application. This stands for Create, Read, Update, and Delete information. Which at the end of the day is the basis for most web applications.
This isn’t your average To do list React project, this weekend we’re going to create a clone of Todoist!
Tutorial of the week:
Length: 7.5 hours (This is longer than usual, but take your time and really enjoy this one. I think you’ll be really happy with the result!)
Difficulty: Intermediate
This tutorial was posted by FreeCodeCamp and if you’re not familiar with them they’re a non-profit organization to help you learn to code for free. They helped me out massively when I was starting my front-end career.
What you’ll learn this weekend:
React.js 🖼
Firebase 🔥
React Hooks 🪝
React Testing ✅
3 creative projects of the week:
1. Pointer Pointer
This is classic internet but it still comes up on my Twitter feed every once and a while. Move your mouse around and it’ll show a picture with someone pointed right to your mouse.
2. Codepip
A fun way to sharpen your coding skill. Play games and master coding concepts. I remember playing Flexbox Froggy to master flexbox when I was learning CSS
3. rafa.design
A personal website is the new resumé/CV and I don’t think anyone does it better than @rafahari. It’s impossible to stand out when your CV is in a pile of other sheets of white paper and black text. A personal website is the best way to stand out as a developer.
That’s all folks!
I hope you enjoyed this weekend’s edition of Weekend Web Dev!
I also hope these three projects give you inspiration for your future projects, portfolio, or just something cool to play around with for a bit.
Share your tutorial progress with me on Twitter! I’d love to see what you’re building.
Your fellow weekend developer,
